PD Levels (common)

  • 15 W (5 V × 3 A): phones, tiny devices.
  • 30 W: small tablets/ultrabooks at idle.
  • 45–65 W: mainstream laptops.
  • 100 W (20 V × 5 A): larger laptops/docks.
  • 140–240 W (EPR): high‑draw GPUs/workstations via PD 3.1.

Why “Slow Charging”?

  • Laptop may negotiate down (thermal/firmware limits).
  • Cable not e‑marked → caps current to 3 A (≤60 W).
  • Hub/dock shares power across ports.

Cable Safety

  • Prefer certified, e‑marked C‑to‑C for >60 W or >10 Gb/s.
  • Replace frayed cables; avoid “unknown origin” PD bricks.

Practical Tips

  • For a 65 W laptop, pick a 90–100 W charger for headroom.
  • Keep one high‑quality spare cable in your bag.
